Where is Anne Boleyn Necklace?

Where is Anne Boleyn's famous B necklace?

This is one of the most recurring questions about the figure of Anne Boleyn, due to the fame that this necklace has acquired in recent times due to historical series and films that have tried to extol the figure of the second wife of Henry VIII, and mother of Elizabeth I of England.

In relation to the History, during the reign of King Henry VIII, it became customary for him to gift expensive jewelry to other women at court after divorcing or murdering his wives. After the execution of Anne Boleyn on May 19th, 1536, Henry attempted to erase her memory from the Royal court by burning paintings and destroying her heraldry. However, he did not dispose of her jewelry, with some pieces, including an 'A' necklace and 'AB' brooch, being passed down to her daughter Elizabeth.

But, does Anne Boleyn Necklace Still Exist?

Unfortunately, the true ownership and use of these pearls by Elizabeth remains a mystery, much like many other lost historical items. Despite a romantic rumor that they could have been part of the English Imperial State Crown, there is no concrete evidence to support this claim. Some believe that the four pearls, currently adorning the Crown Jewels, originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth I and were previously owned by her mother. While this notion is unverified and likely fabricated, it still adds to the allure of the pearls.

The fate of Anne Boleyn's necklace and its pearls remains a mystery, and it's unlikely that we'll ever know the truth. In all likelihood, the pearls have been unknowingly and casually incorporated into someone else's jewelry collection.

However, there are still many people, in whose thoughts is the idea that it would be possible that part of that famous necklace still exists, but, as we said before, it is very unlikely and there is no proof of it but, who knows what can happen.... Today we continue to be surprised by what historians continue to find and discover in relation to even more complicated subjects than this one. But back to this argument, this one is related to a portrait of Henry VIII's second wife made during the 17th century -believed to be recreated from an earlier work- which hangs in Room 1 of the National Portrait Gallery in London. In it she appears as an attractive young woman, wearing a heavily embroidered bodice and a substantial amount of jewelry, including a pearl necklace with three drops from which hangs a golden initial "B".

What is clear, and there is no doubt about it, no matter how much Henry VIII tried to erase her from history, the legend of Anne Boleyn lives on, as does the mystery of her necklace.
