HISTORAL NOTE:
Marie of Medici was a princess of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany from birth and Queen consort of France, as the second wife of King Henry IV of France —from 1600 to 1610— and Queen Regent of France until her son, the future King Louis XIII of France, reached majority —from 1610 to 1617—. She played a distinguished role as a collector and patron of the arts.
The portrait on which these earrings are inspired is currently exhibited inside the Palazzo Pitti, Florence (Italy).
