Historische achtergrond

This ring follows a very portrait driven logic: a simple band and a single colored stone that reads instantly. The reference to early 1500s Italian portrait jewelry is in that balance between gold tone metal and one centered point of color.

That is why it works so well at fairs and historical days: it shows up, but it does not overload the hand. If you wear it with a modern outfit, the cabochon still gives that portrait gesture with very little.
