Chain of Office Charles

Chains of office were used in institutional, noble and ceremonial contexts from the late Middle Ages through the Renaissance. Their primary function was representational, indicating rank, authority or office rather than serving as personal ornament. For this reason, they were designed with repetitive structures, clear heraldic symbols and sufficient scale to be legible at a distance.

This chain follows that functional logic through an ordered sequence of fleur de lis, Tudor roses and geometric elements. Without reference to a specific surviving original, its scale, repetition and visual clarity remain consistent with historical chains of office used in ceremonies, demanding reenactment settings and high level stage productions.
