PRODUCT INFORMATION

Building a Tudor outfit? This Ambrossio livery collar combines a Tudor rose pendant with antiqued silver tone links and colored resin cabochons. Choose from three lengths and cabochon color options to complement your doublet, gown, or cloak. Think about what you'll be wearing it with to choose the length you like best. With slim fitting clothes, you won't need a very long length, but if you're going to wear big, dramatic coats, overcoats, or capes that add volume to your outfit, choose longer lengths.

OBJECT / HISTORY

Historical basis

Historical chains of office were not uniform in design. Alongside austere ceremonial chains, more decorative versions were used when visual clarity and differentiation were required, especially in civic, theatrical or representational contexts.

The Tudor rose became a symbol of the Tudor dynasty under Henry VII, combining the red rose associated with Lancaster and the white rose of York following his marriage to Elizabeth of York in 1486. This collar uses that recognizable emblem for present day historical dress, without claiming to reproduce a surviving Tudor livery collar.
